Personal hero and why: My personal hero is my dad. My dad has sacrificed so much for me to have the life that I have and he has persevered through ever challenge that he has faced. I know that if I can even get close to all that my dad has done that my life will be successful.
South Dakota School of Mines and Technology
I would love to work in any type of chemical engineering lab.
Highlight of your high school experience:
The highlight of my high school experience was winning league for the second and third time with my club soccer team. The girls on my team are another set of sisters and it was amazing to see all of the hard work that we had put in together and to have come out successful.
Q: What accomplishment are you the most proud of?
A: I am most proud of finishing my first full film from scratch. My group and I worked for months on the project and when we were finished with it, it was a huge relief and it was awesome to see something that we had spent so much time on come out successful.
Q: If you were the principal of your high school for a week, what would you do or change?
A: If I were the principal of my high school for a week, I would make sure that there are more intergrade activities. I notice that so many times we as students get caught only interacting with our own grade and it would benefit everyone if we were to communicate and interact between the different grades more.
Q: If you could have dinner with one person, living or dead, who would you choose and why?
A: If I could have dinner with anyone it would be my great-grandpa Burkey because he was such a large influence on my dad’s life and I want to get to know him so that I can fully understand why my dad loved him so much.
Q: If you could live anywhere or do anything for one year, what would you do and why?
A: If I could do anything for one year, I would spend the year traveling the world. I have always wanted to travel and to meet new people and gain new experiences. I love reading and learning about all of the different cultures around the world, so being able to actually travel and see so many of the places that I have read about would be the most amazing way to spend a year.
Q: What advice would you give to yourself as a freshman?
A: The advice that I would give my freshman self, is to get your work done quickly. Procrastinating has been a problem for me throughout high school and has caused a lot of extra stress that was unnecessary, so I would tell my younger self to not procrastinate and to save myself from a lot of stress.
